ASAKO OGAWA

EDUCATION AND FORMATION

Obtained diploma in English literature from Sophia Junior College.

1984-1988: Studied at Alvin Ailey American Dance Center, New York City.

●Techniques Studied : Horton, Graham, Afro-Caribbean, Classical Ballet,Jazz .(New York City, U.S.A.)

●Received scholarship at Clark Center Performing Arts. (New York City, U.S.A.)

Participated in workshop directed by Bill T. Jones.(Tokyo, Japan)

1997-1998 :Received scholarship from the French Government, LE MINISTAIR DES AFFAIRES ETRANGES. (Awarded to one recipient each year.) Studied with Maguy MARIN, Francois RAFFINOT, Regine CHOPINOT, Karine SAPORTA, Mathilde MONNIER, etc.(France)

1999 :Participated in workshops and dance performances produced by Artsits’ Studio of Kanagawa(ASK), performed in a dance-piece directed and choreographed by Mariko AOYAMA, the former dancer working with Pina BAUSCH

PROFESSIONAL DANCE CAREER

1985 :Awarded "Miss Asia Talent Award" in "Miss Asia Beauty Pageant".Invited to 8 European countries ＜France, Germany, England, Italy, Denmark, Switzerland, Holland, Belgium＞. (Madison Square Garden, N.Y.C.)

1986-1987 :Participated in several American dance companies, including Off-Broadway Productions. (New York City, U.S.A.)

1987-1988 :Member of Neo-Ballet East Company and performed at Merce Cunningham Studio. Member of La Mama E.T.C. group (TWITAS) performed in the pieces produced by TWITAS. (New York City, U.S.A.)

1988 :Performed in a dance-piece choreographed by Susanne DAEPPEN, Swiss Dancer/Choreographer, at Choreographers’ Showcase produced by Dance Space.(New York City, U.S.A.)

Appeared in "Bern Summer Art Festival" at Altes Shlachthaus.(Bern, Switzerland)

1988 :Performed in FORCES OF NATURE DANCE COMPANY(New York City, U.S.A.)

1991-1992 :Appeared and danced in "COCA COLA", TVCF choreographed by Barry Leather.

1991 :Performed at "Charity Concert for South African Children" as a guest dancer and choreographer. Presented by African National Congress, "ANC" with Mr. Osman SANKON, Guinean Ambassador. (Tokyo)

1992― Founded INSPIRATIONS DANCE COMPANY as artistic director, choreographer and dancer. Performances given each year.

1999 :Performed and choreographed a solo dance piece at LA MAISON DES CULTURES DU MONDE, Paris. (France)

1999 :Appeared in "ALEXANDRE PERIGOT’S FREE-STYLE TOKYO at Spiral Garden. (Tokyo)

2000 :"INSPIRATIONS" Dance Company Performance, "SORA" (Tokyo, Japan)

2001 :"INSPIRATIONS" Dance Company Performances at THE JAPAN EMBASSYin Paris.(France)

2005 :Choreographed for the main show of "TOYOTA GROUP PAVILION" in AICHI EXPO 2005. This show was directed by YVES PEPIN, who directed several successful spectacles of the world, including The Opening and Closing Ceremonies of The Soccer World Cup ’98 (France) and The Althens Paralympic ’04 and many others.

2006 :"INSPIRATIONS" Dance Company performed at " Session House", Tokyo Japan. Choreographed and directed by Asako OGAWA.

＊＊＊For this performance, Cleber Candido from Brazil joined, and danced a duo piece with Asako Ogawa.

2008 :Appeared on the Radio Program of FM Fuji. Talked with Yoku Hata., one of the famous Japanese comedians, and talked about "My dance Life".

2009 :Choreographed the scenes of "The dancers of fire and the dancers of water" of the Game Soft of The Play Station 3, "The Final Fantasy XIII" by Square Enix.

2009 :collaborated with[Plaplax](Image Artist Group)and danced solo piece "Drops"at Session House, Tokyo.

2009 :"Wish Upon A Star" The 9th Dance Showcase of Broadway Dance Center, choreographed( joint work) and performed.( Melparc Hall, Tokyo)

2010 :"Onko Chishin" The 10th Dance Showcase of Broadway Dance Center, choreographed opening scene (joint work) ( Melparc Hall in Tokyo)

2012 :Participated as a solo dancer in "Shinjin Series 10". Created a dance solo piece " Watashino Nakano"(-ma voix interieure-), collaborated with "Plaplax". (diePratze Kagurazaka)

SINGING CARRER

1993 performed at "APOLLO THEATER" as a solo singer, 6th run-up.("Amateur Night" , New York City, U.S.A.)

2009: Had several concerts as a main singer "Opera avec toi"at Hong-Kong Shanghai Bank in Nagasaki Pref.

2009: Performed "La Princesse OTOHIME vient a Paris-Ca-Beau"as a main cast Otohime at Espace HATTORI, Centre Culturel Franco- Japonaise and CITE INTERNATIONALE DES ARTS , Salle "Edmond Michelet" in Paris, France.

2009: Snging Concert "Kireina Yoru"(A Beautiful Night), at "Gallery EM" In Nagasaki Pref.

2010 :"Asako&Tony Joint Live Dinner Show" at YC&AC, Yamate, Yokohama.Performed with Mr.Tony Guppy , the first-rate Steelpan Player from Trinidad Tobago and with Sho Matsu, the Guitarist and Composer.

2010 :Singing Concert "Yume Wa Anatato"(A dream with you) at Hong Kong Shanghai Bank in Nagasaki Pref.

2010: Participated "Shin On", the live painting by Nizou Yamamoto.(Super Deluxe, Roppongi).

2010- : Started "Uta wa odoru" concert series with Matsu Sho. (Roppongi Sylvie)

2012: Appeared on the Radio Program of "Totsuka Music Wave" of "FM Totsuka". as a special guest artist. Talked and sang 3songs in the 50 minutes program.
